Smart Home, Wi-Fi and Cinema Installation in Dorridge

In Dorridge, plenty of households work from home or commute from the station, and the house has to cope with both. We design, install and support smart homes, home networks and cinema rooms for Dorridge households. Our base at Honiley is about seven miles away, a drive of roughly a quarter of an hour.

We begin with a free consultation at your home or by video call.

Start with the network

Most of what makes a smart home reliable is the network behind it. In a big family house, one router in the hall rarely reaches the study, the loft room and the garden. Video calls drop, streaming stutters and smart devices go offline.

We start with a survey that looks at where people work, watch and relax, then place wired access points to match. Our Wi-Fi and networking service uses RIVI networking equipment. Everything else, from Control4 to cameras, sits on that foundation.

Dorridge houses

Dorridge grew around its railway station. The two conservation areas are Station Approach and Granville Road. Granville Road is lined with large three-storey Victorian semi-detached houses, and there are many Edwardian and later family homes near the station.

Three-storey semis suit a thoughtful install:

  • Solid brick walls block Wi-Fi, so access points are best on each floor and wired back to a central cupboard.
  • Cellars, lofts and attic rooms make good cinema rooms, home offices or music rooms, and we can plan the routes through the floors.
  • Home offices need good video calls, so we pay attention to the network, the camera and the microphone.
  • Streets with mature trees and hedges are well suited to CCTV and alarms that cover the front and the side access.

Working from home, properly

A laptop on the kitchen table is not a home office. In a Dorridge house we can turn a spare bedroom or loft room into a proper study: a wired network point at the desk, lighting that can be set for daytime calls and evening reading, and a screen and speakers that work with the video platform you use. When the working day ends, one button can switch the room back to a family space. We plan this with you at the consultation, alongside the rest of the house.

Beyond the network

When the network is sorted, the rest follows naturally:

  1. Lutron lighting and shading, with scenes for morning, evening and away.
  2. A home cinema in a spare room or loft, or a media wall in the lounge.
  3. Multi-room audio, so music follows you around the house.
  4. Support plans so the system keeps being updated.

Our own engineers do the work, and we can arrange evenings or weekends for working households. Rated 4.9 out of 5 from 44 Google reviews.

We also cover the wider Solihull area. See our page on home cinema and Control4 in Solihull.

Questions we get asked

Can you improve Wi-Fi without a full smart home?

Yes. Many customers start with the network and add lighting, audio or cinema later.

Is it worth cabling a house that is already decorated?

Often, yes, at least to a few key points. We look for routes through lofts, cupboards and floor voids, and add wireless devices where cabling is not practical.

Can I run my home office AV and my cinema on the same system?

Yes. Everything sits on one network, and Control4 can start the TV, lights and sound with one button.

How quickly can you help if something goes wrong?

Call 01926 934612. Support plan customers get priority help, and Premium customers get a 48-hour on-site response for critical issues.

What does a home cinema or smart home cost?

A Control4 smart home typically costs from about £5,000 to about £100,000 plus VAT, and a dedicated cinema room from £20,000 to £150,000 plus VAT. Our Control4 smart home cost guide and home cinema cost guide give more detail.
